The ceremony marked another important chapter in advancing Islamic scholarship and empowering young people across the country.
While addressing participants, religious leaders, and invited guests, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized the central role of the Holy Qur’an in shaping character, strengthening discipline, and fostering unity within communities. She noted that devotion to Qur’anic memorization and proper recitation instills values of integrity, patience, and respect—qualities essential for national development. She applauded the young contestants for their dedication and sacrifice in mastering Tajwīd and Hifz, describing them as role models for their peers.
The annual competition, organized by the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation, draws Muslim youth from different regions of Uganda to showcase their skills in recitation, memorization, and interpretation of the Qur’an. Over the years, the event has evolved into a prestigious national platform that not only celebrates spiritual excellence but also encourages cultural harmony and inter-community understanding.
Hajjat Namyalo reiterated the ONC’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote faith-based growth and youth empowerment. She urged participants to live by the teachings of the Qur’an in their daily lives, reminding them that the true success of the competition lies not only in trophies or titles but in embodying the scripture’s moral guidance.
The 2026 competitions will continue over the coming days, featuring various categories and age groups, before concluding with a grand finale where outstanding reciters will be recognized and awarded. The event stands as a testament to the enduring power of faith, knowledge, and unity in shaping Uganda’s future.
