The Chairperson of the NRM Women’s League, Hon. Adrine Kobusingye, has urged Christians to live lives that reflect faith through service, unity and community development, as she presided over the 41st anniversary celebrations of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Sub-Parish, Katale, as the Guest of Honour.
The celebrations, held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, were conducted under the theme, “You Are the Salt and Light of the World” (Matthew 5:13-16), attracting hundreds of faithful, local leaders and well-wishers who gathered for thanksgiving and a fundraising drive to support the church’s development projects.
In her address, Hon. Kobusingye thanked God for entrusting her with the responsibility of serving Ugandan women as the National Chairperson of the NRM Women’s League, saying leadership should always be used to uplift communities.
“The theme of today’s celebration is a reminder to all of us to be the salt and light of the world. As believers, leaders and Christians, we are called to shine, preserve what is good and serve others with humility,” she said.
She also commended the congregation for their discipline, patience and generosity, noting that many faithful remained throughout the day’s activities to contribute towards the church fundraising initiative.
During the fundraising drive, Hon. Kobusingye mobilised Shs23 million through contributions from her friends, family and supporters towards the development of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Sub-Parish.
Among those who contributed were Hon. Henry Musasizi, Hon. Kaliisa, Hon. Mathias Rubabo, Hon. Cohen of Igara West, Hon. Iddi Basajjabalaba, businessman King Ceaser, Hon. Moses Tushabe, NRM Women’s League National Vice Chairperson Enid Mwesigye, Sister Tinah, Brother Edager, Hotel Lavena and the Office of the NRM Women’s League.
Hon. Kobusingye also applauded the people of Buganda for their overwhelming support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the recently concluded general elections, saying the region registered a remarkable improvement in support for the National Resistance Movement.
She noted that President Museveni secured 71.4 percent of the vote, attributing the achievement to the successful mobilisation campaign under the slogan “All Women for Museveni,” which she said empowered women to actively participate in politics and significantly increased female voter turnout.
“The women stood up and played a key role in mobilising support. Their participation demonstrated the strength of organised women in building the nation,” she said.
The NRM Women’s League Chairperson further praised the NRM government for maintaining peace and security, expanding the road network and improving access to healthcare services across the country.
She encouraged parents to prioritise education, reminding them that government programmes such as Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) have made schooling accessible to millions of children.
“There is no reason for any child to remain out of school. Government has provided opportunities through UPE and USE, and parents must ensure their children benefit from these programmes,” she said.
Hon. Kobusingye also urged residents to embrace government wealth creation initiatives, particularly the Parish Development Model (PDM), encouraging them to establish businesses and improve household incomes.
She pledged to continue helping communities access government programmes and opportunities that can transform their livelihoods.
“I encourage everyone to join government programmes like PDM. These initiatives are meant to fight poverty, and I am ready to support those who need guidance in accessing these funds so they can improve their lives,” she said.
Church leaders thanked Hon. Kobusingye for accepting their invitation as Guest of Honour and for mobilising substantial financial support towards the church’s development, describing her contribution as a demonstration of servant leadership and commitment to both faith and community development.
The anniversary celebrations ended with prayers for peace, national unity and continued partnership between the Church, government and the faithful in promoting social and economic transformation.
