President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni have welcomed internationally renowned evangelist and minister Bishop Dr. LaDonna C. Osborn back to Uganda, celebrating the deep spiritual bond and longstanding friendship between the Osborn and Museveni families.
The meeting, held ahead of the consecration of Pastor Patience Rwabwogo as a Bishop, brought together faith, history and cherished family memories dating back more than four decades.
President Museveni said Dr. Osborn’s return to Uganda was a reminder of the enduring relationship between the two families and the important role faith has played in connecting them over the years.
He noted that Dr. Osborn’s visit comes at an important moment as she prepares to participate in the consecration ceremony of Pastor Patience Rwabwogo, an event expected to attract church leaders, Christians and other distinguished guests.
Dr. Osborn first visited Uganda in 1985 alongside her late mother, who was deeply involved in Christian ministry and used her mission to encourage and minister to Ugandans during one of the country’s most difficult periods.
Reflecting on those early years, First Lady Janet Museveni recalled the special relationship that existed between her family and Dr. Osborn’s late mother. She remembered how the late evangelist prayed with the Museveni family and contributed to nurturing their Christian faith.
Maama Janet also shared a particularly touching memory—that Dr. Osborn’s mother gave the Museveni children some of their first Bibles. Decades later, those memories remain a powerful testament to the lasting impact of Christian ministry and personal relationships.
For President Museveni, Dr. Osborn’s return also offered an opportunity to reflect on Uganda’s remarkable journey. Her first visit in 1985 came at a time when the country was experiencing insecurity, instability and considerable hardship. Since then, Uganda has undergone significant social, economic and infrastructural transformation.
The President welcomed Dr. Osborn back to the country, describing the relationship between her family and Uganda as one built on friendship, faith and a shared history.
“I welcome Dr. Osborn back to Uganda and wish Pastor Patience a blessed consecration,” President Museveni said.
Dr. Osborn’s visit carries significance beyond the upcoming religious ceremony. It represents the continuation of a Christian ministry relationship that has connected her family to Uganda for generations.
Her return also demonstrates the enduring influence of spiritual mentorship. The prayers, encouragement and Bibles shared with the Museveni family decades ago remain part of a history that continues to be remembered with gratitude.
